Puffin: James and the Giant Peach

In this Project i was expected to create a book cover for the popular book James and the giant peach for the book publication Puffin. I decided to go with a mixed media approach for the main piece of artwork on the front cover of my design using water colour style. I think this makes the design really effective and stylish. The overall aim of my design was really to make the design come across as child friendly because this is the main target audience for the book. 

I am very happy with this piece as i feel it has answered the brief in every way. 

AD103 Hilltop Restaurant

In my brief i was asked to rename and re-brand the Rye hill restaurant. I approached this brief by doing some in depth research on logos. I decided to make my logo look very sophisticated by using a nice clean easy to read text. I really like the way i have joined the letters together with the curve. I chose this maroon colour because i thought i looked very rich and luxurious and would really go with the restaurant look and feel. Overall i am very happy with this piece and it has been one of my favorite briefs to work on so far.

My Favourite Fonts

 Steinweiss Script Bold OT

This is a font i really like because of its smooth curvey apperance. This font is very friendly looking and would appeal to children because of its child like look. This font could be used in alot of different situations such as advertising becuase of its eyecatching appearance.


Garda

Garda is another on of my favourite fonts because of its very clean, crisp style. I really like the serifs used in this type as it makes it look more stylish and gives the font a nice flow. This font could be used for a resturant logo or could be placed in any situation were the design needs to look luxureous.


Sloop Script Medium One OT

 

I really like this font becuase it looks very elegant and stylish. This font would look very good used in any design that required a script like font. I think i will consider using this style of font in some of my own work.

Champagne & Limousines

 

 

 

 

This is a font i have used in some of my own work as it is a very nice simple sans serif piece of type. It is effective to use this font in a number of designs as it easily fits in with artwork and other design techniques.
